Prices as of April 2025: Expect to pay $4.50–7.00/kg for standard polycarbonate resin from major distributors. Covestro's specialty grades (hydrolysis-stabilized, bio-based) typically add 20–35% to that baseline. Verify current pricing with your regional distributor as rates may have changed.
The Final Verdict (With A Caveat)
If you'd asked me in 2020, I would've said "all polycarbonate is the same—buy the cheapest." I was wrong. Period.
The difference between Covestro and a standard supplier isn't marginal. It's the difference between a part that lasts 3 years and one that lasts 10. It's the difference between a sustainability report you can actually defend and one that's full of air.
